isol8’s high-expansion toolstring enables deployment below wellbore restrictions, expanding into a larger internal diameter to create a secure seal. The tool’s integral retainer anchors in place and provides a stable platform for dispensing alloy beads, in a single wireline trip. Once positioned, the thermite heater modules ignite sequentially from bottom to top, ensuring uniform melting of the alloy. As the alloy flows and solidifies above the retainer, it forms a gas-tight, metal-to-metal barrier. After setting, the heater modules are fully retrievable, leaving behind a robust, permanent isolation barrier without residual components in the wellbore.
